gilfenklamm-wlf-5-rami-saarikorpiThis spring, a special highlight awaits you: our region will host the Water Light Festival for the first time. International artist Kari Kola will literally bathe the Gilfenklamm Gorge in a new light.

The Gilfenklamm Gorge (Cascate di Stanghe) is a popular destination for excursions. This is where the Ratschingser Bach (Racines stream) breaks through the white marble that surrounds it, demonstrating the unstoppable force of water. The gorge was opened up in the 19th century and has lost none of its fascination since then. The footpath leads over steps carved into the stone and over wooden bridges and walkways into the increasingly narrow gorge with its thundering waterfalls and ends in Jaufensteg. In some parts, the white marble is especially beautiful to see, an absolute rarity!

Kari Kola will take this unique natural spectacle to the next level. He was captivated not only by the sight of the place, but also by its soundscape. The deafening roar of the water accompanied him to the depths of his mind, an impression that intensified in the darkness.

His work “Moments 2022” offers a new visual atmosphere for the natural sound of the water rushing down the valley. The contrasts, colors and reflections of the light installation promise a new sensory experience of this fascinating place.

Brixen Water Light Festival

The festival began in Brixen (Bressanone). The idea is to use light art to restage locations by the water. The fourth edition of the festival will take place from April 29 to May 22, 2022, and this year for the first time, it will also present installations by local and international artists in Franzensfeste (Fortezza), Ratschings (Racines) and Neustift (Novacella). The focus will be on reflections about the environmental, economic and social aspects of water
