The Ridnaun Valley offers many beautiful hikes from easy to challenging: hiking for young and old
Not all hikes are the same - and definitely not here in Ridnaun. If you can choose between leisurely walks in the valley, circular hikes from alpine pasture to alpine pasture and high alpine mountain tours and the conditions are right (a stunning view of the majestic mountains of the Stubai Alps!), then every day will be an unforgettable experience. Hiking in the Ridnaun Valley is as varied as the valley on Schneeberg/Monte Neve itself.
Hiking in Ridnaun means hiking with countless possibilities: Easy hikes for the whole family, idyllic circular hikes for connoisseurs and challenging tours for mountain freaks and summiteers await you here. Choose a new hiking experience every day.
What makes Ridnaun so special for hiking?
The entire Ridnaun Valley offers a diverse selection of walking trails, hiking routes and mountain tours. The special thing about it is that Schneeberg/Monte Neve at the end of the valley with its 900 years of mining history plays a formative role.
No matter whether you decide for hiking in the valley or up high in the mountains in Ridnaun: The panorama here is truly unrivalled. And the rustic and cosy alpine huts that await you in the meadows and forests, plains and high mountains are real highlights on a hiking tour. Because only those who treat themselves to a short, enjoyable break from time to time can then concentrate fully on the beauty of the Ridnaun Valley again.
Hiking in Ridnaun: all year round
If you want to enjoy the pleasures of hiking in both summer and winter (and of course in spring and autumn too!), the Ridnaun Valley is a hiking paradise. With its breathtaking mountain landscape at the foot of the Stubai Alps, it offers unique hiking experiences for young and old at any time of year.
Snow-covered meadows and slopes, quiet forests, narrow paths and rugged rocks make winter hiking in Ridnaun an outdoor activity for body, mind and soul. The glistening snowy landscapes and the tranquillity of nature provide special moments of bliss. However, the summer months also have their charm: when the landscapes glow in the most diverse shades of green and the wild rivers and streams are a pleasant refreshment during an easy hike in Ridnaun. For summiteers, on the other hand, breathtaking views and distant vistas of the surrounding mountains and valleys await.
Our selection of hikes in the Ridnaun Valley
Looking for some hiking suggestions? No problem: Hiking in Ridnaun means that both easy and challenging tours await you, suitable for all levels and ages.
For connoisseurs and leisurely hikers, we recommend the alpine pastures Stadlalm (1,630 m), Agelsbodenalm (1,720 m) or Martalm (1,897 m). Each of them can be reached on foot in 1-2 hours and is also suitable for families with children. The Stadlalm is also open in winter and the hike there offers impressive views of the former mine.
For experienced hikers and all those who enjoy longer circular hikes, we recommend a hike to the Zunderspitze at 2,445 metres (fantastic views of glaciers and valleys included!). This worthwhile circular hike in Ridnaun takes 5-6 hours. Alternatively, there is also the circular hike to Gospeneid (1,455 m) - a quite easy trail at a medium altitude in the Jaufental valley, which is signposted with a walking time of 4-5 hours. However, the Ridnaun high-altitude trail, which is full of adventure and views, should not be overlooked either. From there you can enjoy breathtaking views of the three-thousand metre peaks and glaciers of the Stubai Alps.
For mountain freaks and summiteers, the Ridnaun Valley offers a couple of: Firstly, the popular 7 Lakes Tour - a high alpine, 8–9-hour hike (900 metres in altitude) at the foot of the Stubai Alps and secondly, a mountain tour to the Becherhaus - South Tyrol's highest mountain refuge. This great mountain tour is the ultimate dream of every hiker with sufficient mountain experience and surefootedness.
