Monte Cavallo is the sun terrace of Vipiteno. It boasts 13 kilometres of lovely ski runs
and five state-of-the-art ski lifts, making Monte Cavallo a byword for sport, entertainment and pure winter fun. The bottom station of the 6-person cabin lift is just five minutes from the pedestrian precinct in Vipiteno’s centre
: nowhere else is it so easy to combine skiing and shopping trips! The mountain above Vipiteno
guarantees snow, while the runs range from blue to black, offering skiing suitable for all levels of ability. Those of an acrobatic turn can test their abilities against the Snowpark and its rails and slides. The cabin lift and two chairlifts assure swift and comfortable access, while there is a moving carpet for the little ones. There are professional ski instructors on hand to provide advice and assistance, while the “Yoghurt Kinder Land” has a perfect programme for the very youngest children. Skiing is of course the main activity, but there are also adventures to be had in the surrounding nature, walks in the snow, a safe toboggan run and plenty more activities to enjoy out in the fresh air. Skiers can tuck into a hearty lunch at midday; if the weather is bad, the kids can play indoors in the special children’s rooms. The ski school has won a quality gold seal
and offers both excellent ski instruction and childcare.
A special attraction at the Monte Cavallo ski area is Italy’s longest toboggan run
: its fabulous ten-kilometre
length offers top sledging entertainment. There are artificial snowmaking facilities for the run, which is also floodlit until midnight on Tuesday and Friday evenings. The lift runs from 1900 to 2200 on these days. The toboggan run also won a test conducted by the ADAC (German Automobile Association). The Rent and Go shop at the bottom station rents out skis, snowboards, toboggans and other accessories.
The restaurants and huts next to the pistes offer tasty refreshment and a genuine ambience. The Monte Cavallo and Ladurns ski areas use a joint ski pass
, allowing visitors to enjoy a total of 30 kilometres of well-prepared, snowy ski runs.
